Encino, which means “evergreen oak,” is positioned along the southern portion of the San Fernando Valley at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains.
The area has been home to many high-profile celebrities and entertainment executives over the years including such notables as John Wayne, Clark Gable and W.C. Fields. Singer-movie star Al Jolson was one of the first honorary mayors of the city.
With six golf courses, a bike-racing facility and six parks, Encino is also known for its popular business district along Ventura Boulevard which offers an array of wonderful dining, shopping and entertainment options.
